Murphy and the Mouse
By Caterina Nelson
One evening, my husband and I were out on our screened-in porch with several of our cats. We had been outside in the yard with Murphy, who's an orange tabby Maine Coon and weighs a good 22 pounds, and Tony, a black and white tuxedo cat, and had just brought the boys in. We looked over at Murphy and noticed that there was a tail hanging out of his mouth. My husband opened his mouth, which Murphy tolerated pretty well, and extracted a very small mouse. He put the mouse down and he promptly ran hell for leather towards the door, which I opened for him. Murphy looked rather happy, as he hadn't been entirely sure what he was supposed to do with the mouse. We figure that the mouse dined out on his story of being in the lion's mouth for many months. Murphy never caught another mouse.

Thank you for sharing this interesting "tail", Caterina. Animals are some of our best friends. Best wishes. Frederick Hope all is well at Emerson.
Murphy was obviously not much of a mouser! peter
The mouse obviously knew it was a Dormouse and ran for it.
